On Tuesday night’s second to last installment of the “Late Show with David Letterman,” Letterman welcomed actor and pop legend Bill Murray.
Over the last three decades, Murray and Letterman have both achieved pop culture glory, delivering some of the most memorable late-night appearances of all time.
Tuesday did not deviate from that pattern, with Murray appearing after bursting out of a goodbye cake, and doing his interview covered in cake and icing.
At the end of the interview, Murray headed out into the streets of Manhattan. There, he found fans and bystanders who were more than eager to join him in song.
Still covered in cake, Murray burst into an impromptu cover of John Lennon’s “Give Peace a Chance,” with a slightly altered chorus of “We Need Worldwide Pants.”
Worldwide Pants is the name of Letterman’s production company and has carried the “Late Show” banner for over two decades.
