In his first appearance on late night television, actor Adam Sandler appeared on “Late Night with David Letterman” in 1991.
Sandler had just started as a writer and performer on “Saturday Night Live” and sent the audience into hysterics with jokes about living in New York City, candy bars and his girlfriend’s boobs.
In subsequent years, Sandler would make over 30 appearances on shows hosted by Letterman.
Sandler, who was 25 at the time, appeared more than a little nervous when sitting down with Letterman for an interview portion after his comedy set.
“Come back as often as you’d like,” Letterman told Sandler, beginning what would become a longstanding comedy friendship.
